ClimAct Summit 29

ClimAct Summit 29

COP29 happened in Baku, Azerbaijan from the 11th to the 22nd of November 2025. To highlight the importance of this event bringing everyone’s voices on climate change together, on the 29th of November we organised our very own COP29, the ClimAct Summit 29.

We joined a British Council initiative organising our own climate debate with our partner schools and their eco-committees. An interactive, online simulation of UN climate change negotiations that allowed participants to experience first-hand the urgency and scale of actions required by nations to tackle global climate change through a role-playing exercise.

Our event was a one-day online event with two components:

1) Morning session: students from eco-committees shared their work promoting environmental education and implementing climate action plans.

2) Afternoon session: each eco-committee were given a country to represent and we simulated COP29 conversations between countries.

COP29 aimed to provide financial support for renewable energy projects and climate adaptation measures in vulnerable countries, considering the needs and priorities of developing countries, so the topics covered during our event were around those themes.

Jalan Maharjan, principal of Holy Vision school, hosted the event.
