Crystal Mountain School’s EcoClub and their Community engagement in climate action

Crystal Mountain School, one of our partners in the COP26 Creative Commissions project, and its EcoClub are working hard to involve their community in taking climate action!

The CMS EcoClub leads weekly river clean up campaigns and joins forces with their community to keep their rivers clean. The EcoClub is now going to be performing a weekly litter analysis to learn what is the most common type of litter and try to find solutions to tackle this issue.

The CMS EcoClub has also planned and led the very first CMS convention on Climate change, where Tenba Gurung, the Mayor of the Buddha Rural Municipality, Gyalpo Bhote, the Ward Chairperson, and Pasang, from the local youth  group, were invited as guests. The convention focused on the impacts of climate change in Dho-Tarap valley. During the event they discussed about: 1) the limited water resources in the region due to a decline in snowfall during winter, 2) about yarsa gumbu endangerment as a result of increasing temperatures and 3) the need for urgent action.

Future plans of the CMS EcoClub is to invite local committees that work to conserve wild life in the region.

Great job CMS EcoClub!
