Brain Awareness Week 2025
As part of Brain Awareness Week, we successfully completed a series of Brain Awareness workshops held across two schools in Nepal — Mount View School and Galaxy Public School.
The program was organised by Engage Nepal with Science with support from the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), and aimed to introduce students to the fascinating world of neuroscience and brain health through engaging and accessible learning experiences.
The series included both online and in-person sessions led by experts from neuroscience, medicine, and biotechnology. The online session featured presentations by Yogesh Joshi (PhD Student, Wayne State University), Vibha Acharya (Postdoctoral Associate, University of Pittsburgh), and Sunita Ghimire Gautam (Research Scientist, Research Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology (RIBB)), who introduced students to cutting-edge topics in brain research.
This was followed by an in-person session facilitated by Dr. Ananta Aryal (Consultant Geriatrician, Assistant Professor, NAMS, Bir Hospital), who highlighted the importance of brain health, ageing, and neurodegenerative diseases, helping students connect scientific knowledge with real-life health awareness.
Across both schools, students explored how the brain functions, why brain health matters throughout life, and how early awareness can help build healthier habits and greater empathy across generations.
We are deeply grateful to both Mount View School and Galaxy Public School for their enthusiastic participation and support, as well as to all facilitators, speakers, and partners who made this program possible.
The Brain Awareness workshops successfully created an engaging space for curiosity, learning, and meaningful discussion about neuroscience and health.
A special thank you to International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) for their generous funding and continued support, which made this program possible.
