Third Nepal–UK Seminar: Building a Research Ecosystem in Nepal (Glasgow 2026)

On 30 April 2026, the Research Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology (RIBB) successfully hosted the Third Nepal–UK Seminar: Building a Research Ecosystem in Nepal – Episode 6 at the University of Glasgow, with participants joining both in person and online.

The seminar focused on Traditional Fermented Food Systems, bringing together researchers, academics, and members of the Nepali diaspora to exchange knowledge and explore opportunities for international collaboration. The program featured presentations from experts representing RIBB, the University of Glasgow, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Quadram Institute, the University of Edinburgh, the University of East Anglia, and other institutions.

In addition to showcasing ongoing research on traditional fermented foods, microbial diversity, and food systems, the event highlighted Nepal–UK collaborative research initiatives, discussed challenges and opportunities in building research infrastructure in Nepal, and explored pathways for future partnerships and funding. A panel discussion on traditional fermented food systems further encouraged dialogue between researchers from Nepal and Europe.

The seminar concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening international collaborations, supporting research and innovation at RIBB, and advancing Nepal’s scientific research ecosystem through sustained global partnerships.
