Nepal Science Festival 2025

Nepal Science Festival 2025

The Nepal Science Festival 2025 brought science to life in Jhapa (Nepal), creating opportunities for students, educators, and communities to engage with STEM in meaningful, hands-on ways.

Organised through a collaboration between Engage Nepal with Science, Research Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology (RIBB), and Jhapa Model English School, the festival reached more than 2000 students from local schools through interactive workshops in biology, physics, chemistry, environmental science, and astronomy.

Designed to spark curiosity and strengthen scientific thinking, the workshops provided students with opportunities to explore science through practical experiences and active learning. As part of the festival, we were also delighted to collaborate with Pokhara Astronomical Society and Karma Flights to deliver engaging astronomy workshops, giving students the opportunity to explore the wonders of space and develop a deeper curiosity about the universe around them.

Before entering classrooms, young early-career professionals also received training in science communication, classroom engagement, and workshop delivery, helping ensure that each session was engaging, accessible, and inspiring.

The festival extended beyond schools and welcomed the wider community through an Open Day featuring interactive exhibits, science demonstrations, student projects, local innovators, and science-based businesses. Educators, scientists, and local leaders also came together for discussions on the future of STEM education and practical ways to strengthen science learning opportunities in the region.

Building on the journey that began with the first Nepal Science Festival in 2023, Nepal Science Festival 2025 continued a shared vision of making science more inclusive, practical, and accessible for everyone.

A special thank you goes to our incredible host, Jhapa Model English School (JMES), for their support, partnership, and hospitality in making this festival possible. We are also grateful to all the participating schools — Oxford English School, Shree Harikul Model Higher Secondary School, Smarika Samudayik Boarding School, and Suraj Shiksha Pratisthan — for opening their classrooms and becoming part of this shared celebration of science. We would especially like to acknowledge Oxford English School, who together with JMES provided continued support throughout the event and helped ensure its smooth delivery. We would also like to thank our amazing volunteers, whose energy, dedication, and enthusiasm helped bring every activity, workshop, and event to life. Your commitment played an essential role in creating an inspiring experience for students and communities alike.

Science becomes powerful when people can experience it for themselves — and Nepal Science Festival 2025 reminded us that curiosity, learning, and connection can create lasting impact.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Eurofins Foundation for their generous support, which helped make the Nepal Science Festival 2025 possible and strengthened our shared mission of making science accessible to more communities across Nepal.
