Our collaborative work is focused across three core program areas that respond to key challenges in STEM education and engagement in Nepal:
- Science Education & Curriculum Development: We strengthen science teaching by supporting educators with professional development opportunities and promoting more hands-on, practical learning in classrooms.
- Community Engagement & Outreach: We create inclusive spaces for communities to explore science—whether through events, talks, public learning centres, or creative outreach initiatives that encourage curiosity and critical thinking.
- Capacity Building & Partnership Development: We build connections between researchers, educators, and institutions to strengthen Nepal’s scientific ecosystem. Our work supports long-term collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the development of locally driven solutions.
Science Education & Curriculum Development

Teacher Workshops & Lab Visits
Engage Nepal with Science collaborates with the Research Institute for Bioscience & Biotechnology (RIBB) to deliver dynamic professional development experiences for science teachers across Nepal. These workshops are co-facilitated by local and international researchers, and are designed to enhance teachers’ confidence in delivering practical, engaging science lessons.
School Practical Kits & Activities
To support active learning and improve access to hands-on science education, Engage Nepal with Science provides classroom-ready practical kits that align with the national science curriculum. These kits use low-cost and locally available materials to ensure accessibility in diverse school settings.
Student Workshops
Engage Nepal with Science delivers a range of creative and hands-on science workshops tailored for students of different age groups. Sessions are designed to deepen scientific understanding while making learning enjoyable and relevant.
Community Engagement & Outreach

Community Learning Hub
At the heart of our community outreach is the Community Learning Hub, based at the Research Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology (RIBB) in Kathmandu. This welcoming, drop-in space invites young people, families, and local residents to explore science through hands-on experiences with real research tools and lab equipment.
Community Workshops
Through grassroots workshops, we work closely with local communities to address real-world health and environmental topics. These events are typically hosted in rural areas and focus on relevant issues like menstrual health, nutrition, pollution, water safety, or biodiversity.
Online Talk Series
We host a range of online talk series designed to connect students with scientists, researchers, and professionals working in a variety of STEM fields. These virtual events create informal, engaging spaces for young people to hear real stories from people working in science—often for the first time.
Capacity Building & Partnership Development

School Partnering
Engage Nepal with Science creates long-term connections between schools in Nepal and their international counterparts to explore shared challenges through science, creativity, and collaboration. These partnerships encourage students to become active participants in their learning by engaging with real-world issues such as climate change, public health, and sustainability.
Building a Research Ecosystem
This initiative aims to strengthen Nepal’s scientific capacity by fostering sustained, equitable collaboration between researchers in Nepal and the UK.
